The old clichés stand true - Writers write, and writing is re-writing. We write, and then write some more. And in that creative process sometimes it becomes hard for us to edit ourselves. Perhaps we've become too close to the work, or we have become just plain bind to changes that may be needed. We may have a particular line that we love, that sounds beautiful as it rolls off the tongue, yet it doesn't work for the story, the article, the script.

Any serious writer knows that there comes a time when it's a good idea to have another critical eye on the work. We have a tendency to write or re-write so much that being an objective editor of our own creation becomes nearly impossible, and quite simply a bad idea! When this happens, hopefully we recognize it and bring someone in to help - preferably a great writer in their own right, but more importantly a good editor. Not every writer is a great editor, and vise-versa.

An honors graduate of the Writing Program at Columbia University, Stephen studied screenwriting with amazing writers, including Terry Southern. Southern's credits include Dr. Strangelove, The Loved One, The Cincinnati Kid, Easy Rider and The Magic Christian. Stephen's short stories have on more than one occasion been compared to Hemingway for their nuance and descriptiveness, and for their ability to affect emotions and stir base memory in the reader.

Stephen has an ear for dialogue, the writing of which, while it may 'heightened', crisper language, feels and sounds natural for actor and audience.
