Stephen Snow, Artistic/Creative Director

ABOUT STEPHEN

In 2008, Stephen approached his former partner about a space available located at Bethel's historic Opera House. Stephen's vision was to open a center for the arts wherein he would bring the arts in all disciplines back to Bethel, a space that would become an iconic cultural center for the arts in Fairfield County and beyond. In 2009 Stephen and hid former business partner opened the Center.

As the Center's Artistic Director, Stephen produced many noted events and top-notch performances.

Stephen holds a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia University.
As a graduate of the Writing Program, he was fortunate to have
studied with Terry Southern, legendary co-writer of the Oscar
Nominated film Easy Rider. Stephen's short film, FALL TO THE SON, was a top-ten finalist in the online
Tribeca Short Film Competition, and was an official
selection at the Connecticut Film Festival and Kent Film Festival.

Stephen has worked on independent feature films, documentaries and short films. He has over ten years experience directing and producing, and is a Final Cut Studio editor. Whether on stage or on set, Stephen's passion is empowering other artists, and working with them to see artistic works to their full realization and potential.

Philosophy . . . Respect the work, leave ego at home.

Artistic Director Stephen Snow Joins The Palace Theater A New Era Begins at The Palace!

In January, 2010, Stephen Snow began discussions with Palace owner Joseph  Da Silva  about how the historic Palace Theater can once again become a valuable cultural center for the Danbury community, Fairfield County and beyond. In mid-March discussions came to a close and Mr. Snow has now joined The Palace as Artistic Director.

A graduate of Columbia University with a background in writing, producing and directing film and stage productions, Mr. Snow was the founder and former Creative Director of the Center for New Media and the Arts in Bethel. Mr. Snow’s joining The Palace marks a new era in the life of the beautiful old theater, and in the theater’s role in the life of downtown Danbury and surrounding communities. Mr. Snow’s mission is to bring the arts in all disciplines, as well as arts education, back to The Palace Theater on a regular basis. “The community needs to know they can count on The Palace to be here for them,” he says. “They need to see that we are here to stay, and that we’re going to provide high quality, fun and exciting entertainment on a regular basis. My goal is that people get to know our schedule just as well or better than they know what’s playing at the local cineplex, or when their favorite team is playing on television.”

Starting April 24th, 2010, The Palace will begin its new era. Upcoming events include plays, musical reviews, stand-up comedy, spoken word poetry, dance in all forms, opera, live music, movies and educational programs that engage both children and adults. Mr. Snow and Mr. Da Silva think people will find that, when they come to The Palace, they are not customers but guests and will be treated as such. Having grown up in the Arts, Mr. Snow believes they are a life- and spirit-sustaining force embodying universal and cultural values that ought to be shared. “Everyone should have access to great entertainment,” he says, “and great entertainment is what The Palace is about.”

Upcoming Events! The Palace kicks off its summer season on Saturday, April 24th with a concert by two-time Gold Record, RCA/MCA recording artist Grayson Hugh, with opening act Lucy Bonilla.
