CENTER FOR NEW MEDIA AND THE ARTS Located at the historic Opera House in Bethel, Connecticut, we offer professional video production and post-production services. We also specialize in photo restoration, film and tape transfer to DVD, web services, and more. Built in 1848, listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the Opera House is a grand and beautiful building. P.T. Barnum had a silent movie theater here. It was also a vaudeville stage, a roller skating rink, and eighty or so years ago it was the Bethel High School Gym. The first floor was once a hat factory, and it was a billiard hall that Mark Twain frequented. The Center is 2300 square feet of open loft space with a 15-foot ceiling. For the last three decades the space was a photography studio, which meant the public hasn’t been able to enjoy the space as a gathering place since the 1980s. In 2009, we will change that. We will hold acting workshops, guitar workshops, creating music on your computer workshops, songwriting workshops, photography workshops, illustration workshops, fimmaking work shops and more.
